Twelve year old Marcus Brewer lives with his persistently discouraged single parent, Fiona Brewer. Both Fiona and Marcus beat to their own individual drummers. Marcus will do whatever he can to satisfy his discouraged mother, regardless of whether it causes himself distress. Accordingly, he understands that he is seen as not the same as most children, as even oneself declared odd children would rather not spend time with him as he is the objective of harassing. Part of the insults against him are the way that he sings and addresses himself without understanding that he is doing it. In the interim, 38 year old Will Freeman is a loafer who has lived serenely off the eminences of a tune composed by his expired dad, and as such has never needed to work a day in his life.
